French 19th Century Zuber Style Four Panel Paper on Canvas Screen with Village Scenes

This antique French four panel paper screen on canvas from the 19th century has been made in the Zuber style. This style is based on the extraordinary woodblock printed papers and fabrics perfected by Zuber & Cie, founded in 1797 by Jean Zuber. Our panels, originally used as a room divider, depict various scenes of village life among a veritable sea of trees, with a spectrum of hues of greens, teals and greys. Each panel image is individually enclosed by a painted frame with faux gold nail heads while sitting on a faux painted marble base. Each panel is secured on a thin wooden frame and the panels are in turn connected to each other through their canvas.
